@thisisyaya Shea butter from the actual shea nut tree has an ivory (to slightly yellowish) tint to it–the deep yellow and golden substance that is often passed as Shea butter is sometimes not even Shea butter but the product of another tree in West Africa similar to Shea butter and with similar properties. Refined and cosmetic grade shea butter has color added to it and the characteristic smell removed from it, also removing some of its healing properties in the process. =)

hello I tired to make some and it came out sticky!! i dont knw what i ddid wrong? Plz help!!!

@mettebonnor Hi, Mette! I will send you info :)

@LadyE726 I use it all the time. It’s great for moisturizing your hair and it’s not too heavy (for me), yet learn, YOUR hair :)

Can this be used as a leave-in conditioner?

@thisisyaya I guess I’m confused…search for Shea Butter 102; Yellow Shea Butter,…she says something different. :)

@slgraycols You’re absolutely right. Any product that mixes oils and water need a preservative. Jojoba oil, vitamin E, honey are all good natural preservatives but if you are not going to use your product in a quick enough time then you would need to put a preservative in it.

@monawachsler When shea butter is in it’s natural state (unrefined) it is beige to dark yellow and has a slight smoky odor to it. When it is white (refined) a lot of nutrients are lost because the color is taken out as well as its natural odor.

@latossha1 When I made my own body butter I used a double boiler to melt my oils. You could also just use two pots, on bigger than the other of course. I feel like microwaving is cheating, LoL. I also feel that way about cooking.

@SPARKWISDOMhow do i order how to mke this…

Real Shea butter is not yellow…. If what you purchase is yellow, it is either dyed, or cut with Palm butter. I got that info straight from an African site.

It seems to be very greasy ; add some cornstach

Don’t forget that the microwave zaps the nutrients out of our foods and the same goes for what ever we decide to put in it. Very informational video tho, thank you :)

i hear butter can make your breast grow is that true??????

@ttdean I don’t know how you get rid of the water but I was watching another video by innovativethinkin (the one that shows making it) and it was said that if you add water then you need a preservative as the shea butter can mold. (I’m not sure which oils are preservative oils, google it, I think Vitamin E oil may be a preservative) At the least you should probably refrigerate your shea butter when not in use so it lasts longer. I’ve read that any product with water needs a preservative

@ttdean ok now I know I need an emulsifier because i added water to the oils in my shea butter. Now I need to know where to buy it.

I added water to my whipped shea butter, just a little, I thought it may fluff up faster. Now I have a good consistency but I can see little drops of water in the mix. What can I do to get rid of it?

Is it possible to buy it from you as a finish product. Please give me an e-mail adress or your homepage adresse. Mine is: bonnor.mette@gmail.com

Like the video, currently transitioniong and would like to purchse the products. Where do you buy them.

Love the video! I am transitioning and want to make this recipe. Where did you purchase the oils?

I am really interested in making this recipe, just want to know what brand of oils you are using and where did you purchase them? Love the video

@jasmineball1992 I’m a distributor. I now sell this at the flea market since I had so many people asking me to make it! I’ll post a link to the site when we have it up.

I was just curious…where do you buy your products

@naturalblkbeauty use Coconut Oil and blend, blend, blend. At a minimum, 30 minutes….then freezer, blend, blend, blend. Just set aside a Saturday morning to do it and make enough for month or so. :)

man this looks like butter you cook wit mmm, lol!! be careful with that, lol naw but i can never get mine to look like that but i will keep trying
