i don’t know why don’t you try on me?

No chocolate should be given to dogs

White chocolate isn’t really chocolate, so it wouldn’t make them as sick as milk or dark. However, dogs can’t digest sugar, so it could still upset their stomachs. But white chocolate woudlnt’ kill them.

A Dog’s digestive system cannot process Chocolate. Large doses can kill a dog. But usually it will just make them sick .

my dog has eaten chocolate white and milk chocolate having a 4 year old in the house who likes her candy along with her older brother and she has given our dog all kids of chocolate and it hasn’t killed him yet, although he dose get a little diarea occasionally from it when she is sneaky and gives him some with out my knowledge.

Due to high levels of idiocy on Yahoo Q&A’s, it’s safer to say that “no amount of any chocolate” is safe for any dog.

I very much doubt it. Well, I wouldn’t recommend it and I wouldn’t give it to my dog anyways

White chocolate is safe-ER, but I wouldn’t feed it in large amounts.

The true deadliness in chocolate is a chemical in it. Luckily, White Chocolate has such small amounts of it that it can be fed to dogs in minimal amounts.

Hope I answered your question.

Chocolate contains theobromine, a toxicant responsible for causing canine illness. Signs of theobrimine poisoning include vomiting, excessive thirst, diarrhoea, restlessness and agitation.

These signs usually develop in six to eight hours. Kidney damage, seizures, heart rhythm irregularities and death may result, in severe cases. There is no real antidote for a theobromine overdose. Support and care can be given, and vomiting can be induced if the poisoning is recognised early enough. Obviously the best course of action is not to feed your dog chocolate to begin with and to be sure to hide your own chocolate stash so your dog can’t help himself!

White chocolate, however, follows different rules. Some dog treats are available dipped in white chocolate. Is this safe?

The answer is yes. Regular dark chocolate is made from cacao beans, the source of high levels of theobromine, a caffeine-like substance. White chocolate, on the other hand, is made from cocoa butter, which is safe for dogs.
The amount of theobromine in powdered cocoa varies, but it can be quite high. Usually, the darker the chocolate the higher the theobromine content. The amount of caffeine in different chocolate products is also extremely variable. For example, unsweetened baking chocolate reputedly has up to 10 times the caffeine of milk chocolate.

I got the above information from a great website k9magazinefree.com. It has the full explanation. I only took a snipit of the information.

doubtful. i dont reccommend it..

NO

No type of chocolate should be given to a dog but if your dog accidentally gave your dog a little bit of chocolate it is OK he won’t die.He will die though if you give him or her a whole chocolate bar and don’t run him to the vet as fast as you can.
But if you go to Petsmart there is a type a chocolate that’s OK and it is also at dog Bakery’s

White chocolate is not actually chocolate, so it’s “safe”. It’s the theobromine in chocolate that’s the problem. Since “white” chocolate isn’t even actually chocolate (it’s technically considered “candy”), there’s no theobromine, thus it won’t harm your dog no matter how many times people (who, evidently, know nothing about why chocolate is bad for dogs) say it will. ;-)

No, it is not.

All types of chocolate are poisonous to dogs, although not in small amounts. But like humans, if dogs eat a small amount of chocolate, even if it is not enough to poison them, they will crave more.
“Chocolate contains theobromine. A naturally occurring stimulant found in the cocoa bean, theobromine increases urination and affects the central nervous system as well as heart muscle. While amounts vary by type of chocolate, it’s the theobromine that is poisonous to dogs.”
As for the types of chocolate, white chocolate actually is the safest, containing the least amount of theobromine. This is how much chocolate it takes to poison a dog: “White chocolate: 200 ounces per pound of body weight. It takes 250 pounds of white chocolate to cause signs of poisoning in a 20-pound dog, 125 pounds for a 10-pound dog.”

Instead of chocolate, use carob, which does not contain theobromine.

Any type of chocolate does not have any health benefits for pets. However, white chocolate does not contain theobromine, the chemical found in cocoa beans which is used to make both milk and dark chocolate. Milk chocolate is made from cocoa butter, not cocoa. Since it does not contain theobromine, it would not have the toxic effects that both milk and dark chocolate potentially have to pets.

Anything with Cocoa is BAD for the dogs.

No chocolate @ all 4 dogs but they do have special doggie chocolate tho….

That’s a great question! White chocolate is made from cocoa butter, which contains only trace amounts of Theobromine, the chemical which is toxic to dogs. Theobromine is found primarily in cocoa solids (one of the primary ingredients in “regular” chocolate).

In the words of one Veterinary Medicine website I checked (the link is below):
“White chocolate contains Theobromine, but in such small amounts that Theobromine poisoning is unlikely.”

White chocolate isn’t *good* for dogs (it’s high in fat and sugar, both of which can cause stomach upsets if they eat too much), but according to various sources, a 20lb. dog would need to eat somewhere from 50 to 250lbs of white chocolate to cause a neurological reaction from the chemicals. That’s… a LOT of white chocolate.

Since it’s safe in small quantities, I’ve seen many fancy, handmade dog cookies with colored white chocolate coatings, and you can even find recipes for them online. Occasional treats like that won’t hurt your dog (emphasis on *occasional*). Otherwise, most of the “chocolate” dog snacks out there are flavored with carob.

white chocolate isn’t really chocolate–which is why it won’t affect your dog the same way that real chocolate would. it’s mainly just sugar.
but i still wouldn’t give it to your dog. they can’t metabolize stuff the same way that we can and you don;t want to give them an upset tummy.
