It’s different. It’s not maply syrup either… It’s basically a treacle… I don’t know if they really have it readily available in the states to be honest, but I’m sure you could get it in the international section at Giant Eagle. (I lived in the US for 11 years, but we never actually used golden syrup while there…)

It is a light treacle/inverted sugar syrup. You can use a corn syrup if you can’t get it. You could give the honey a go though and see what happens.

I made these too and they were so delicious. If you have a sweet tooth they are a must. My kids have already asked for me to make them this year.
did this one last christmas and decorated it just like her. It was the christmas table centrepiece. Seriously it added and extra ten percent to the xmas feeling and it tasted great.
