is cocoa the same as like hot cocoa instant mix/ hot chocolate mix?
if not, can u substitute cocoa mix for cocoa?

no, hot cocoa mix has sugar and powdered milk in it. Cocoa is just plain cocoa powder. If you did sub, you'd need to cut down the sugar in your recipe, and it wouldn't be as chocolately as if you used cocoa powder.

No they are not the same thing. If you are in the store then find powdered Cocoa – it’s in the baking section and usually in a canister, as opposed to the hot chocolate section.
Unlike Hot Chocolate Mix, Cocoa is typically unsweetened and has few additives.
They’re not used interchangeably.
