Thai director Prachya Pinkaew, who brought us Tony Jaa’s incredible and brutal close combat fighting in ONG BAK and TOM YUM GOONG, is back bringing us a similar Muay Thai extravaganza with the upcoming CHOCOLATE, only this time around it’s an autistic girl with an amazing ability to kick some ass. Really, the trailer that IGN recently posted says so. And boy can this chick kick some ass. And she does it without wires or special effects. Why is she kicking so much ass? Something about settling her mother’s debt or something. Click on the film’s poster below to check out the trailer. It opens Feburary 6th in Thailand and, depending on its success, may get a release stateside.

She watched some Bruce Lee movies, and she absorbed what she saw on the screen so well that she could do whatever she saw martial arts wise. She could do everything the martial arts she absorbed even seconds before required. It was really cool.
I just saw this movie. It was very good. Her reflexes were just incredible, and she was so adorable. Her mind was always set on just one thing at a time, so if she had to leave in a hurry, later that night she would go back and finish whatever she’d gone to the place to do. Very good fight scenes, and little quirks that made it actually quite funny.
I *loved* this movie. Some great fight scenes and a surprisingly emotional story. Very, very good. My only dislike was the very end, how things wrapped up story-wise with her mother and father (I’m trying to stay spoiler-free).

This movie was good, but tried to play “deliberate tear jerker” way, WAY too much. Action scenes are around an 8 or 9 out of 10. Plot is like a 2 out of 10.
Normally, this isn’t a problem, because, who watches an action movie for the plot, right? Well, in this movie, they try and force you to pay attention to it, by making the plot scenes drag on foooooorever! So you can’t just ignore it. It’s trying to hard to be meaningful, when it should just be an action movie.
