kalau kte lht dr segi pentadbiran mmg melayu msh pgg tampuk kepimpinan…dis kind of film pnh dgn mksd tersirat dan subtext…its allow us as an audience to think ourselve abt our own country…tdk kre dr segi ap sekali pn. bt wat i like abt Yasmin, dia bgtu kuat berpegang dgn prinsip perpaduan kaum.

mungkin awk betul.tapi melayu masih memegang malaysia dari segi pentadbiran , pertanian dan juga 15% ekonomi.x semua miskin.ramai melayu yg bergelar datuk.masalah utama ialah sifat perkauman yg ada dlm sifat org generasi terdahulu.
First i don’t understand the meaning of this film at all (i’m not Malaysian). However, after reading all of your comments i realize this film is quite touching. It makes me wanna watch another Yasmin’s films. I do love this film. RIP
thanks for ur conclusion
Cool
awh! beautiful video.
i love this 1 the most,
it s so real,
the old-thiinking of parents,
n how parents’ thinking touch on a child,
it is malaysia,
old malaysia,
we can change it.
the boy is reaching…..right before he put down the chocolate …he second guessed himself…..
there’s still a chance for all to come together…
at first i dun understand the meaning….
then, after watching it again, i realized something….
20 cent for a cadbury choc? wat a rip-off!
but i understand the 5 cent barrier thingy
At the start the mother berates the boy for not leaving Malaysia bcos she believes the country is ‘run’ by Malays who will not gives the Chinese any chances. Yet this same Chinese boy, who apparently like the Malay girl, was rude & unforgiving once he was ‘caught’ being nice to the Malay girl. Here, Malaysia, sometimes over 5 cents a small local shop would just overlook it & let you have the chocolate.
Another gem by Yasmin. RIP beautiful soul.
nice video ~
this is the truth that really happened in Malaysia~
what is the foolish act? sorry I don’t live in Malaysia and would like to know more about the meaning of this clip- seems very powerful
a 5 cent distance to a friendship
20 sen for 1 cadbury chocolate, what a ripoff!
well my take on this is that there divide between the many different races (here showing mainly the malays and chinese) BUT we’re taking cautiously taking steps to bridge the devide
the new generation is here..i guess a lot hapnd in histry… n theres a lot of racial tension btween the old folks..but the youngs ones are getin closer to each other…. “our frnds are here” not our race….
actually that guy wanna give the chocolate to that girl even she didnt have enuf coins to pay for it.
however his mother called him up…he remembered what her mother told him b4…..
“This is the place for them,….. blah blah blah….”
The country that his mum mentioned about – Singapore….
Her mum is not racist.. this is the truth, it’s happened in Malaysia, not because of Malays, but Malay politicians especially UMNO leaders.
k-hoe, left with the money, uncertain to what to do with it, decided to just leave behind the choc. cuz he cant actually go after her becuz of his mother (parental influence)..
I think the theme should be about UNDERSTANDING..
The chinese boy and the mlay girl understood it a sense. Why cant we?
Maybe he left the choc hoping that she would come back and take it right? So here’s the thing, why??? Here’s why i think why.
Do you guys realize that she left her coins??
I think it means that that malay girl, after k-hoe said xde duit xyah beli la, she realises that he chinese in particular) wants the money, probably cuz she understands the chinese dilemma potrayed in the story already. Thus, she decided to juz leave the coins behind (ni bukan sedekah ok, jgn slh faham)
Guys, its just a thought but… hear me out and please comment cuz i wanna know what you guys think.
I think that the story is trying to portray our youth today. That we(M’sian youth) are actually starting to see what matters in our homeland. Okay,
1) We know that k-hoe was behaving the way he is(shouting, kalau takde duit tak payah beli la) becuz of his mother right? His mom’s clearly someone downright racist. He on the other hand doesnt look like one.
So here’s the thing..
the problem is why msian cant be united is bcoz the old folks behind d government..
hey that changed my perception of this short film. (:
